I4WDTA Product Testing Recommendation Program (PTRP)
The Association and its members are frequently asked by enthusiasts, “What’s the best off-road product I should purchase for my kit?” We receive similar inquiries from manufacturers who lack the means to independently test and evaluate their products in diverse global locations using experienced 4WD operators who educate and perform these tasks daily. To meet this demand, the I4WDTA has established the Product Testing and Recommendation Program (PTRP) for off-road products, offering manufacturers an independent, real-world evaluation and recommendation from our international Certified Trainers (product evaluators).
Our PTRP involves a rigorous, professional, technical, and scientific testing process. Products are submitted to a number of evaluators for extensive testing in their geographically distributed locations, ensuring a comprehensive assessment in various terrains and conditions. This rigorous evaluation period involves standardized, custom-built testing tools designed to quantify performance accurately and scientifically. All testing is conducted confidentially, ensuring unbiased and objective results.
Upon completion of the testing phase, evaluations are compiled and analyzed. The data is meticulously reviewed by I4WDTA, and a summary report is provided to the manufacturer. Products that meet our stringent criteria may be awarded the prestigious “I4WDTA Recommended Product” designation, signaling to consumers its high desirability for recreational, commercial, or military Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) use.
The I4WDTA PTRP is cost-effective for manufacturers. The primary compensation we request is that products be provided to our evaluators to retain for their continued use as professional trainers. Additionally, we request that these products be made available at a reduced rate to other I4WDTA Certified Trainers for potential incorporation into their training programs. Manufacturers benefit from the ability to use the I4WDTA PTRP award in marketing and packaging materials for that product, along with ongoing product demonstrations by our Certified Trainers to students and consumers.
Leading OHV industry manufacturers, including Factor55, MAXTRAX, HiLift Jack, and Firestone Tires, have successfully utilized the PTRP.
