Kim Reeves is a professional 4 Wheel Drive Trainer and one of British Columbia’s most influential leaders in off road recreation, known for his long standing commitment to education, responsible access, and organizational development. For more than two decades, he has worked to strengthen the systems, programs, and institutions that support safe and sustainable 4WD use across the province.
Kim’s most significant contribution to the off road community comes from his 16 years as President of the Four Wheel Drive Association of British Columbia, where he served on the board for a total of 17 years. Under his leadership, 4WDABC experienced major growth, modernized its governance, and expanded its role as a provincial leader in education, stewardship, and public access advocacy. Kim guided the organization through multiple strategic planning cycles, helping transform 4WDABC into one of Canada’s most active and effective motorized recreation associations. A key part of this work included the development and evolution of Wheeling Wisely, 4WDABC’s flagship public education program. Built to support both new and experienced users, Wheeling Wisely provides clear, accessible guidance on safe vehicle operation, environmental responsibility, trail etiquette, and backcountry preparedness. The program reflects Kim’s belief that education is the foundation of both safety and long term access. Kim’s leadership extends beyond 4WDABC.
He served on the Board of Directors for the Outdoor Recreation Council of BC, contributing to the Access Committee, Reconciliation Committee, ORC Fund Committee, and the 50th Anniversary Conference Committee. As a former ORC Chair, he championed and led strategic planning processes that strengthened collaboration across BC’s outdoor recreation sector and reinforced the long term resilience of the organizations involved.
In addition to his governance and program development work, Kim is a senior instructor with ARC Off Road Training, where he helps deliver high quality 4WD operations and recovery courses for government, industrial, and recreational clients. His instructional style emphasizes clarity, safety, and practical skill development—qualities that reflect his broader commitment to building a safer, more informed off road community. Across all his roles, Kim is known for building programs and organizations that last—training systems, stewardship frameworks, and governance structures that elevate safety, education, and responsible access.
His work has shaped the culture of off road recreation in British Columbia, and he now brings that experience, vision, and commitment to the International 4 Wheel Drive Trainers’ Association Board of Directors.
