The Test for Certification:

Think you’re ready? The Testing for Certification (TFC) is where that claim gets proven.

This is not training. This is evaluation.

Held once or twice a year, the I4WDTA TFC is an intensive, week-long experience running from Sunday evening through Friday afternoon. From day one, candidates are challenged through real-world scenarios, daily testing, and hands-on simulations designed to measure performance against I4WDTA standards.

You will be evaluated in three critical areas: driving, recovery, and instruction. It’s not enough to have the skills, you must demonstrate the ability to lead, communicate, and instruct others at a high professional level. And you must do it consistently, day after day, under pressure.

Just as important, candidates are expected to demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, and respect for others at all times. How you show up; your attitude, your interactions, and your ability to work with and lead people, is part of the evaluation.

Throughout the week, Certified Instructors conduct formal evaluations while providing continuous feedback, coaching, and corrective guidance. Candidates are supported with reference materials, but success ultimately comes down to preparation, discipline, and execution.

Make no mistake, this is a demanding experience. Long days in the field, evening study sessions, and the expectation to perform at your best every day push candidates both physically and mentally. The week concludes with written and practical exams, along with peer evaluation.

At the end of the TFC, results are clear:

  • Certified – You’ve earned the title “I4WDTA® Certified Trainer.”
  • On Probation – You’re close. Address the gaps and return for final evaluation.
  • Did Not Pass – You have more work to do. Refine your skills and come back stronger.

This is the standard. This is the benchmark. This is the I4WDTA TFC.
