Why should I become an I4WDTA® certified Trainer?
Excellence in 4WD Training. That is what we promote and believe in. We are the only professional credentialling organization with a standard based curriculum to professionally test and certify our member candidates. To earn certification by the organization you will need to be both an expert in 4WD and an expert educator. Our certified instructors demonstrate expert knowledge and skills in all direct and indirect fields related to 4WD and recovery, in addition they also have to demonstrate their teaching ability to others on all their fields of expertise in a proficient manner.
If you are a 4WD instructor or looking for a professional level of certification in the 4WD education field to advance your private, commercial, government, or military career, attending our Testing for Certification (TFC) is your first step. This is a rigorous evaluation of your knowledge and ability to train and educate anyone in 4WD driving, recovery, and all related fields that are recognized by professional instructors. This event is NOT a training event; it is a testing event where candidates are being evaluated against the professional standards.
If you are up to the challenge and meet the application requirements, performed any additional preparation individually or with a Certified Trainer, apply to be eligible to attend the Testing for Certification (TFC).
The Test for Certification (TFC)
Today the I4WDTA TFC takes place once or twice a year and spans from Sunday evening to Friday afternoon of a single week. During the week, candidates are provided with the standards of the organization, refreshed on many topics that are tested daily, and educated in Adult Education Theory. Every day there are practical training applications and simulations were candidates demonstrate their abilities.
Certified Instructors operate the TFC and perform daily formal evaluations of each candidate against the standards, as well as provide feedback throughout the day, corrective actions, and are available for candidates during their evening study time. To aid in the classroom and evening study sessions, each candidate receives a binder with all the key information and refreshed presentations that will be used throughout the week.
This week-long evaluation can be demanding both physically and mentally as candidates will be working outdoors for long periods of time, studying at night, and must be ready to continue to perform challenging activities the next day. At the end of the TFC a written and practical examination, and peer review, will complete the overall evaluation.
Upon successful completion of the TFC, you will have demonstrated the knowledge, skill, and ability to deliver the quality instruction that your customers demand for the safe operation of their vehicles in the most demanding environments to best meet your customers’ requirements. You will have earned the title, “I4WDTA® Certified Trainer”.
